πŸͺ“ Urban Legend Tribute Screening | Jamie Blanks Retrospective | Screamfest Glendale

On Thursday, May 7th at 7:30 PM, Screamfest is heading to the LOOK Dine-In Cinema in Glendale for a special monthly retrospective screening of a slasher cornerstone: the 1998 classic, Urban Legend. We are proud to present this evening as a tribute screening for the late Jamie Blanks, celebrating the incredible legacy and visual flair he gifted to the horror community.

Emerging during the height of the 90s slasher revival, Urban Legend took the "campus killer" trope and infused it with a dark, stylish atmosphere that only Jamie Blanks could deliver. When a series of bizarre and gruesome deaths begins to plague Pendleton University, student Natalie Simon (Alicia Witt) suspects a terrifying pattern: a hooded killer is meticulously recreating famous urban legends.

From the "killer in the backseat" to the "mousetrap" under the car, this film is a masterclass in tension and stylized scares. Seeing these iconic set pieces on the big screen, surrounded by fellow fans, is the ultimate way to experience the film that made us all second-guess those stories we heard from a "friend of a friend."

Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the 90s slasher era or looking to honor one of the genre's most passionate directors, come out and see why this story remains a definitive staple of modern horror.
