Pann holds a Bachelor of Film Studies with Distinction and is the recipient of the inaugural Outstanding Student Award in Film Studies at SAE Institute, Perth. Pann fuses Asian sensibilities and Australian bush-wrangling themes with a solid understanding of American film-success elements. His trademark style is a synthesis of intense emotion, complex and intriguing narratives, and high-octane action. He leverages Hitchcock-like twisted plots, fully engaging viewers in suspense. Though the dialogue is minimized, there is deep development of character. Pann brings an in-depth understanding of the target demographic viewers, showcasing strong female roles as well as complex male characters. Pann is the director of the action-packed short, Imperfect Quadrant (2016) released on Amazon Prime. While watching 'The Keys', I wanted the viewers to experience Hitchcock’s film. I took several challenges to create his presence in the film: Black and white, the era of 1945, the suspense, etc. Above all, we scattered easter eggs of Hitchcock’s film titles throughout the film. This film will always be special to me because we have created a film that reminds others of Alfred Hitchcock. Everyone who watched the film felt the presence of Hitchcock, especially when they hear the crow’s call outside the house. The biggest challenge I face making this film was creating the era, 1945 of Los Angeles in Victoria, Australia, and having to pass several authority approvals to film sites. We had great difficulty finding a house to match the production, location, car, and clothing, and of course not to mention the costs went off the roof and there was no funding, and had to watch the budget. However, managed to overcome them with determination and persistence.
