Fokke has been directing all his life. As a young boy he directed Matchbox cars, dinosaur toys and Batman action figures. Today Fokke directs commercials, corporate films, branded content, documentaries and short fiction films. His films have garnered multiple awards at high profile film festivals around the world. Authentic storytelling and esthetic cinematography are key elements in his work.
Fokke has made video content for major brands such as Disney, Microsoft, TomTom, LG, Wickey, AS Watson, NPO, Spinnin’ Records, AA Drink, Vacansoleil, Saur and Homey.
He divides his time between directing, shooting and producing content for his own production company and acting.
In 2012 Fokke directed his first short fictional film called De Raad, which won Best Debut and Best Scenario at the Eindhoven Film Festival. He moved on to documentary filmmaking in the USA and co-produced the American documentary Destressed. This film won the Audience Choice Award and Best Documentary Award at the Garden State Film Festival.
In 2015 Fokke directed his first documentary in The Netherlands, called The You-Know-Who. This film investigated the field of direct cinema and premiered at the 2015 edition of Garden State Film
Festival. There it brought home the award for Best International Short Documentary. In the same year Fokke wrote and directed Match, a short film set in the distant future. Match won awards at
the Barcelona International Film Festival, Independent Film Awards in Berlin and the Global Impact Film Festival in Washington.
In 2018 Fokke made his US directorial debut with the short drama Missed (winner of 6 awards, 30 film festival selections), followed up a year later with his comedy Swung (winner Best Comedy Short at the Garden State Film Festival).
Aside from working behind the camera, Fokke finds himself on the stage from time to time. He played the lead in Cirque de la Faim (2014, directed by Jeroen Kriek), a massive hit at the Oerol Festival, one of the most exceptional landscape arts festivals in Europe. Fokke made his film acting debut in Los (2023, directed by Karlijn Koel). In 2024 Fokke goes on a Dutch national tour with the stage play Spaghettirellen (directed by Jolmer Versteeg).
Fokke is an avid physical media collector, owning over 3000 films (and counting) on dvd, blu ray and 4K discs. His other hobbies are going to the movies (obviously), indoor football, Padel and he hardly ever misses a match from his favorite football team FC Twente.
