Tárá Ayeni writes and directs dark comedy and horror from an imagination as thorny, complex and delightful as the worlds she creates. A female Black-British writer-director, the short film 'Sylvia' is Tárá’s directorial debut. Tárá's talent for dark comedy landed her an additional writer position on C4/HULU series 'MAXXX' and she is currently developing two feature films in the horror/ genre space. Tárá is developing her original series, 'She Had It Coming', with Fifth Season and Luti Media. The series 'She Had It Coming' builds on the world and characters featured in her debut short film 'Sylvia'. Tárá is attracted to genre as a vehicle for tales of morality and approaches archetypal questions of sacrifice, selfishness and self-discovery through a unique lens of culture and heritage. Tárá is inspired to tell genre stories that represent and originate in diverse communities; universal stories whose conceptual richness, visual language and characters draw deeply on the culture of the diaspora.
