Ruth Fowler is a British writer-director based in Los Angeles whose work spans film, television, theater, journalism, and photography. A graduate of Cambridge University and USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, she is drawn to darkly funny, psychologically sharp stories about power, performance, intimacy, and the ways women survive impossible worlds. She created the Paramount+ miniseries Little Disasters, starring Diane Kruger, and her original four-part drama Rules of the Game, starring Maxine Peake, aired on BBC One and Hulu. Her eight-part miniseries Lady Ghislaine is currently in development in the US. Ruth is currently filming a documentary about domestic violence and the family court system and is in post-production on The Woman Is Perfected, adapted from her acclaimed 2018 stage play. Her previous short documentary, Fairies Baseball, premiered at Dances With Films LA and screened at festivals internationally. Her theater work includes bled for the household truth, which premiered at Rogue Machine Theatre and received two Stage Raw Award nominations, and The Woman Is Perfected, which was selected as Pick of the Fringe and Best of Broadwater at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Her journalism and photography have appeared in publications including The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Wired, and the Los Angeles Times.
