Luis Quijano is a Mexican director, producer, and screenwriter from Mérida, Yucatán, currently based in Los Angeles. Since 2017, he has created music videos, web series, commercials, short films, and feature films in Mexico and the United States. In 2023, he founded Balché Films, a production company focused on sociocultural stories within the horror and fantasy genres. His work has been showcased internationally in over a dozen countries, including at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles as part of In Focus: Latinx Cinema. He has been a NALIP Emerging Content Creator Fellow (2019, 2022) and a participant of Hola Mexico Film Festival’s Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today program presented by HBO and the HFPA. He has also assisted Blumhouse and Atomic Monster on script coverage, development, and office management, he has directed branded content for Funko and Banana Boat, and is currently in post-production of his first feature Me Gusta Más Crudo (co-directed with Fabio Colonna). His most recent short film AVEM is starting its festival run, debuting with screenings at the New York Latino Film Festival and Screamfest Los Angeles.
