Synopsis
After years away, Dilara returns home for the funeral of her childhood friend Jennifer. The town feels different, her old friend group even more so. Grief hangs in the air, but something else lingers too. The name no one says out loud: Jimmy.
Once convicted of a violent crime, Jimmy became the town’s urban legend. Now, his story is back in circulation: as a true crime podcast everyone’s listening to. Against her better judgment, Dilara starts listening too. But the voice in her headphones feels too familiar. Too close. And after listening, something seems to be triggered when Jimmy returns to set right what was done to him.
What begins as a search for answers slowly unravels into something dangerous. When another tragedy strikes during a memorial rave, Dilara realizes the past isn’t done with them and Jimmy’s story isn’t over.

David-Jan Bronsgeest is a director based in Amsterdam. He graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2015 with crime-thriller BROKER about organ harvesting, taking home the prestigious student award for Best Film.

In 2018, his short film MEET JIMMY was sold to Paramount Pictures, with producers Platinum Dunes and The Picture Company attached. The rights to David-Jan’s short film MR LONELY were sold to Spyglass Entertainment, with Phantom Four producing.
MEET JIMMY eventually turned into the Dutch feature film JIMMY in 2024. That same year mid-length body horror BINARY was released and selected for both International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Fantastic Fest (Austin, TX).
Other shorts he directed include SEXORCISM (2019), UNITY (2018) and A VARDY (2016), which were selected at several film festivals over the world.
David-Jan launched horror label BLOODRAVE with writing-producing partner Tim Koomen.
JIMMY is David-Jan's feature film debut.
