Cory Miller is a writer/director based in Los Angeles. Miller received a BA from Wesleyan University in English and American Studies. He then spent four years investigating police misconduct at the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board (the CCRB). Miller investigated thousands of cases of police misconduct as both an investigator and a supervisor, showing him the hidden truths about modern policing within the nation’s largest police department.
After leaving the CCRB, Miller received an MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Miller’s films won multiple awards at UCLA, including two DGA Spotlight awards and Best Narrative Film for his short film Allen Mack. Since graduating, Miller has worked as a director and screenwriter, using many of the stories from the CCRB in his film and TV work.
Miller’s scripts have been included on the Black List, the annual list of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood. One such script, LINE OF DUTY – a modern adaptation of Macbeth set in the NYPD – was set up with Academy Award winning director/producer Edward Zwick. Subsequent projects have found him working with Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead, Euphoria, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), ABC Television, TNT, and John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions.
Miller was accepted into the 2017 Sundance Feature Film Screenwriting Lab with his script MOVE, the true story of the 1985 MOVE bombing in Philadelphia. He recently wrapped production on the thriller BODY LANGUAGE, starring Christina Milian, Steven Strait and Annie Gonzalez and produced by horror masters Chad and Carey Hayes (creators of THE CONJURING franchise) Read less
