My name is Rachael Daniels, and I’m a first-time filmmaker from Oakland California. I started my journey in film, as a screenwriter. I attended the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting back in 2017, and “Pruitt & Igoe” was the first feature-length screenplay I wrote for the program. After years of rewrites and a dozen drafts, I was encouraged by my professors to shoot a short film based on the feature-length script I wrote. And the rest, as they say, is history. Being able to bring the words and characters that have sat with me in my head for over half a decade to life was an experience like no other. As a first-time director, my job was made immensely easier thanks to the hard work and dedication of our all St Louis cast and crew. I would not be submitting this film if it weren’t for them.
Quote
if something is there, you can only see it with your eyes open, but if it isn't there, you can see it just as well with your eyes closed. That's why imaginary things are often easier to see than real ones.
