Roy Lee
Advisory Board
Roy Lee is an American film producer who regularly takes well known Asian films and remakes them for American audiences. THE GRUDGE, THE RING and THE DEPARTED are just a few of their successes.
Lee has produced not one but two big-screen Stephen King adaptations — “It: Chapter Two” and this fall’s “Doctor Sleep,” a sequel to “The Shining.” They’re the latest in a line of hit franchises for the Brooklyn-born producer, from horror properties (“The Ring,” “The Grudge,” “Quarantine,” “The Boy”) to family fare (“The Lego Movie,” “How to Train Your Dragon”). Lee put himself on the industry map in the late ’90s by creating an online network that tracked spec scripts. Among his current projects are Amazon horror series “Them: Covenant” and director Olivia Wilde’s New Line thriller “Don’t Worry Darling.”
I'm constantly looking for something that will be pushing the audience to new scares in horror movies.
