Misha Shprits is best known for co-directing, co–producing and co-writing “First Squad: The Moment of Truth”, a Japanese feature animation that premiered in Locarno in 2009 and is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures. In the following years Shprits wrote and created a number of drama shows for Russian audiences, winning the Golden Eagle award for best drama series of the year for “Optimists” in 2018. In 2020 he was commissioned by Netflix to create a mystery series “ZATO” based on his own idea. Shprits grew up in Moscow, studied architecture and visual arts in Germany. Before transitioning to film and TV writing, he worked as an information designer for top interactive agencies in New York City. Shprits is currently based in Berlin, Germany.
