Michael Mongillo's most recent feature film, the sci-fi chiller "The Changed" (2021), is the latest in a string of acclaimed work spanning two decades. "The Wind" (2001), a dreamy morality tale about misconceptions and murder, won Shriekfest's inaugural Best Picture award and earned the praise of maverick director Ralph Bakshi. His follow-up feature, the sci-fi dramedy "Welcome to Earth" (2005), was selected for NewFilmmakers NY and was the Closing Night Feature at the New England Film Festival. His third feature, the mockumentary "Being Michael Madsen" (2007), had its world premiere at Raindance Film Festival, was the Opening Night Feature at DancesWithFilms, was honored with the Audience Award at the Faux Film Festival, won Mongillo the Best Director award at MockFest, and was later handpicked to screen in New Horizons' mockumentary retrospective alongside such landmark films as "This is Spinal Tap." Mongillo's fourth feature, the supernatural mystery "Diane" (2017), world premiered at FrightFest London and screened at the New York City Horror Film Festival prior to its Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award nomination, among a list of notable nominees including "A Ghost Story."
