Emma Westenberg is a Dutch director, born in Berkeley, California and based in Los Angeles. She studied at the renowned Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and the Cooper Union School of Art in NYC. Emma’s work can be described as a confident mix of classic visual tropes and fashion & fine art influences, subtly integrated to create her unique, distinctly pop aesthetic. Her ability to shoot critically acclaimed, style centric content, while remaining accessible to a diverse audience has made her a go-to director for bespoke musical artists, fashion labels & globally recognized brands. Emma recently completed filming her feature directing debut, YOU SING LOUD, I SING LOUDER. The film will premiere at SXSW in March starring Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara, produced by Christine Vachon’s Killer Films, Deux Dames, Black Magic and Sobini. Her other feature, BUFFALO FLATS, is in development with Matt Jackson. She has directed episodes of DOLLFACE for Hulu and LITTLE VOICE for Apple, as well as LONG SLOW EXHALE for Paramount/Charter. Emma was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Director for her Janelle Monae video PYNK. She has directed major commercials for brands such as Swatch, HP Computers and Cuervo Tequila. When she has time, she continues to work on high-end commercials and music videos both in Europe and in the U.S.
