Charlie Schwan is a Texas-born filmmaker whose deep affection for horror, unfortunately for his folks, manifested at a very young age. While studying film at the University of Texas at Austin, he directed his thesis film, The Goodnight Show, which premiered at Tribeca in 2018 and went on to play festivals around the country. After moving to Los Angeles, Charlie directed Death Snot (2022) and Mr. Sunshine (2023), which screened at festivals including Palm Springs International ShortFest, Beyond Fest, Telluride Horror Show, and FilmQuest. His latest short, Harvester, premiered at SXSW in 2025, winning the Jury Award for Best Texas Short. Alongside his narrative work, Charlie directs music videos and is currently developing several feature-length genre projects. Charlie is also a co-founder of Silverlake Scream Show, a nonprofit supporting emerging horror filmmakers through screenings, community events, and production resources. A lifelong fan of all things strange, he is drawn to stories that use genre to explore the darker and stranger sides of human nature. His friends know him as “the guy who always has extra fake blood,” a reputation he’s happy to embrace, even if he wishes they knew the good stuff is really expensive.
