William Lott is an award-winning independent filmmaker with a dedicated passion for storytelling and a deep adoration for horror. His latest vision comes to life in the gritty throwback slasher, NAILS. Though NAILS plays with classic slasher tropes, the topical twist presents themes that go much deeper. "As a queer kid growing up in a conservative, mostly Christian environment, I always longed for a sense of belonging - but being indoctrinated into a belief system that was personally damning, never allowed me the space to be who I really was, or find where I really belonged. This is where the heart of NAILS lies - within the desire to connect and succeed, but with a gory, thrilling spin to exaggerate themes of self-sacrifice and how far you’re willing to go to achieve connection and success. With NAILS, it was important for me to frame the familiarity of the formula inside of a new space to play in - True Crime Podcasting. I thought this was the perfect format to speak to a current culture where misinformation and bandwagoning knows no bounds - where people are willing to go low and justify it afterwards. I desired to explore the moral conversation surrounding True Crime and intertwine it with a current culture where everyone's live-streaming in hopes of going viral. On the surface, this is a true-to-the bone slasher that I hope entertains and showcases the passion of a crew of young filmmakers and creatives. I can only hope that it resonates with you beyond the surface." - William Lott Read less
