For over a decade I’ve been a writer and producer on the TV series “Impractical Jokers,” a hidden camera show where friends embarrass each other in front of strangers.
Most people, or as we call them "marks," take these shenanigans in stride and laugh it off. But since we often film with the general public in New York City, occasionally you'll get marks who are completely off their rockers and best left alone - sometimes borderline violent.
So we thought about what would happen if one of these marks took things to an extreme. And what if that mark was played by Richard Kind?
I love Richard (Curb Your Enthusiasm, A Serious Man, East New York) in this, and we wrote it with him specifically in mind. What a blessing that he agreed to do it! He brings a real menace to the table, but there's a glee in the performance as well that's really fun to watch.
Joe Derosa (Better Call Saul) nails playing a very opinionated person who is STILL argumentative with his maniacal captor and Janine Harouni (The Batman) and Sajda Waite are fantastic as a YouTube prankster duo in WAY over their heads.
We used much of the same crew and equipment used while filming Impractical Jokers - including the same hidden cameras. Although things have never quite gone to this extreme on our show, you never know when you'll mess with the wrong person...
