Synopsis
Pauline has a sister, Grace, who suffers from cystic fibrosis and occupies most of her parent's attention. Aware that Grace will one day need a lung transplant because of her condition, Pauline is convinced she can perform the operation herself. Excision explores a strained relationship between a mother and daughter. It is a story of neglect, obsession, jealousy and loneliness told through a blurring of suburbia and terror.

Richard Bates Jr. is a 2007 graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He was the writer/director of Excision (2012) and Suburban Gothic (2014). Trash Fire is his third feature film.
