Jason Kempnich has always been drawn to making films. As a child, he would gaze for hours at the Super 8 film cameras in a local camera shop, but the urge to create film manifested in high school, where Jason produced several films with friends over summer breaks. Upon leaving school, Jason volunteered at a local television station, before the harsh reality of the industry was made obvious when the firm "downsized", retrenching half of the staff. Resolving that television wasn't for him, Jason completed a Degree in Information Technology at Griffith University, Australia ... and also completed several short films with friends he had made in the Film & Television faculty. Jason left University and proceeded to work in Information Technology for a few years before realising something was missing: film. With no formal education in filmmaking, Jason formed Yarnmaker and directed "Unfinished Business" (2006) (5 awards, 14 official selections), followed by "Unrepentant" (2010) (4 awards, 13 official selections). "Cough" is Jason's third film.
